Parents will be familiar with the problems and risks associated with computers and the many products available to keep children safe online. Children must have equal, if not more protection when using their mobile phones. Sexting and cyber bullying have become major problems in recent times and really underline the need to protect our children.
Around half of children will be the victim of cyber bullying in their lifetime and only 10% of them will tell their parents that it is happening. So you may never know. We have all heard stories of the disastrous consequences of cyber bullying – we cannot afford to take it lightly.
Sexting has exploded over the last couple of years and has landed many children in serious trouble. About 20% of children are sending nude or semi-nude pictures of themselves while almost half of children admit to receiving such messages.
